Ethel´s father, Abe Pellicoff and Lawrence´s father, Moise, knew each other in Nizhyn, Russia (Now Ukraine). They worked together, one of them a middle manager of a farm, where wheat was grown, and the other a manager of a brewery which bought the wheat and brewed beer.
