Description
Mort´s book at page 7, Mort identifies this picture as his "Great Grandfather". If so, this would be the oldest generation in the Bloom Archive. This is Vera´s father.
The bottom of the front says "F. Malkina. Nizhyn"
The back stamp says "Photography by F. Milina in Nizhyn."
And at the bottom: "Atilier (which is a french word for "Artists Studio") for Zooming Portraits.
On the very bottom it says "Negatives are kept".
The director of the Nizhyn Gogol State University told me that he recognized the Malkina name, as a prominent photo studio in Nizhyn. It was run by both the husband and wife, and had studios in Nizhyn and Kiev and perhaps a third location.
