Title
Corporal Hi Bloom: VA Benefits to buy a house 1954
Description
This 2-8-1954 certificate apparently allows Hi to purchase a house, which they used to buy 8400 Lennox Blvd., Van Nuys, California. Its the house I lived in until we moved to Riverside in 1956.
There was a 10 year window to use the VA benefits, so Hi purchased it just within that period.

In 1945, amendments to the law increased the maximum guaranty to $4,000, and allowed veterans to buy a home within 10 years of the end of the war. Various changes in law brought the program to where it is today. It was first extended to Korean War veterans in 1952.
