Title
Sweet Masha
Description
Masha Grodsky Odinak sitting sweetly on a chair in 1931. Masha was a wonderful person. Smart, oh so smart, holding advanced degrees from several universities. I knew her married to her wonderful husband Alec Odinak and living in New Haven, Connecticut. I met her earlier when she would visit her parents, Morris and Rita Grodsky in Los Angeles, after they moved from Chicago, but I spent time in her house at 65 Cleveland Road, New Haven, Connecticut. (Their house was right across from Yale Bowl, so the boys, Mitch and Tommy, would rent out their front yard to park cars for spending money on Yale football game days). Masha was a professor, I believe at the New School in New York. https://www.newschool.edu/admission/visit/plan-your-visit/
Afflicted by polio at an early age, her mouth twisted in the corner and slightly impacted the sound of her voice. Masha was a modern woman amongst modern woman. Creative, innovative, interesting, kind, nurturing. She was dedicated to her parents, but Rita drove her crazy. She loved her two boys and her husband. Avidly political on both a national and local scale, she was often involved in important causes. She was generous in her manner and demeanor. A favorite cousin of the Bloom boys.
The items which are displayed on the table and the wall her in this picture indicative of the type of items that Morris and Rita had in their house on Gardner Street in Los Angeles, California.
